OFW and CTTY

August has passed so quickly, I haven't even started any of my August BOMs.....(there's always next month) but I did manage to get a flower ready to add to my garden.

Stop by and take at the other hexies this week - here.  Thanks to Karen for helping us keep our gardens growing.

Only a few more months until Christmas and this week I was thinking about bell ornaments I made back in high school for family.  I called my Aunt and between the two of us we came up with the pattern.  I remember my mom using white mohair for the bottom of the bell and they looked a little rounder but I'm happy with the results using the yarn I had stored in the basement.

Check out  CTTY - Christmas through the Year hosted by Anthea here to see what other items are being made.  Thanks Anthea for keeping us on track for Christmas.

Happy Stitching!

One Flower Wednesday, 12" mini quilt swap and 35 years

Here it is late Wednesday and I should be sleeping instead of posting in bed.  That's what happens when you fall asleep in the recliner while supposedly sewing.

I made a few stones for my garden path and only managed to sew two of them on.

Look at the cute snowman I received!  He has a great top hat, crocheted scarf, mittens and such a cute face.  There's snowflakes, snowballs and WINTER FUN in beads.  Thank you so much Terry (California) for this wonderful mini...I LOVE it!  She also sent some butterfly stickers but I don't see them in the picture - oops!

This great swap was hosted by Cheryll at Gone Stitchin' .  Stop by and visit.  There will be another mini swap in October/November with a flower theme, why don't you join us.  Thanks Cheryll!

I was given these flowers today by  a few of the ladies at work to celebrate my 35th Anniversary.  Aren't they gorgeous?  I was 21 and just out of college when I started working there.  My how time flies! Thanks Diana, Katie, Sondra, Svetlana and Sue.

Have a great week !
Good Night,

CTTY and OFW

It took my 6'4" DH told hold my Christmas project for CTTY.  It's a quilted Christmas Tree that's over 6 feet tall!  I'm keeping this for me.  It was my first try at meandering/stippling - whatever you call that quilting stitch - and I surprised myself with the results.  It Worked!!!

I now have it rolled on a swimming noodle for storage, you can see where I had it folded above.  The paper pieced pattern (Tall Trim The Tree by Cindi Edgerton) had a pieced flying geese tree skirt but I decided to make mine a little different.

Check out what others are making for Christmas at
Christmas Through the Year hosted by Anthea.

Now on to One Flower Wednesday hosted by Karen.

Here's my flower for the week, I just finished stitching it.  It's fabric scraps form a table runner I'm working on.
Visit the other flower gardens at One Flower Wednesday.

I took a wool class last Saturday with Kathy (Woolkeeper).  The Fall Banner is called Pumpkin Patch House.  It's the third season banner I've done (or should I say started...summer isn't finished yet)

Kathy's Woolkeeper website should be up by the end of August/early September.  Her patterns are beautiful and the directions are easy to understand.  I saw a sneak peak at a few of the new patterns/kits.  I can't wait to place my order.  Look for a give-a-way here soon.  I wanted to share a kit with you.

I'm off for a long weekend/vacation tomorrow morning to visit family.  I'm taking my Ipad along and hope to visit all of you along the way.

Have a great week!

One Flower Wednesday

It's Wednesday again and that means Hexie time.  I only made a few stepping stones for my garden this week but every little hexagon helps.  I'm working on quilting 2 runners and here is one of them. My local quilt shop has a great summer special.  You purchase the pattern of the week and you can purchase up to 10 fat quarters at a discounted price.....more on that next time - I'm too lazy to get up again and grab the patterns.

I have a wool class this Saturday, I can't wait!  Kathy (Woolkeeper website coming soon), who has designed other wool projects I've posted, is doing the third in a Seasons series.  The first Banner (6" x 12")was "Spring Blossoms".

Then came summer .....

"House on Daisy Hill" obviously isn't finished.....no daisies....

and Saturday is "Pumpkin Patch House". As you see I have most of the pieces traced and cut out.

Last, and most special, my daughter made/painted this for me.  I just LOVE IT!  She does such amazing work.  She's been creating a lot of mixed media works lately.  Maybe she'll let me post what's in Dad's (DH) room next.

Happy Stitching!

One Flower Wednesday on Thursday and Mother's Day Swap

First of all I'd like to thank Anthea (Hibiscus Stitches) for the email....I didn't realize how long it's been since I posted and visited all the blogs I enjoy so much.  Work has been trying and stressful and I let it take too much of my "free time" from me.

I joined three flowers to my garden, it's been so long since I worked on my hexies.  This week I'm planning on making more leaves and stepping stones and will post my progress next Wednesday.  Visit the other gardens at Karen's One Flower Wednesday and see how their gardens are blooming.

This is the beautiful Mother's Day mini quilt I received from Helen.  I showed the mini or a picture of it to many of my friends here and I didn't realize I had not posted it.  It's Gorgeous!  These pictures don't show off her beautiful stitching - thanks again Helen for this lovely quilt.  (it's still hanging in my living room - flowers look good all year).  Helen also sent many goodies and I especially liked the licorice/chocolate logs - YUM!

Here are pictures of the mini I made for Helen

Thanks to Cheryll for hosting this 12 inch mini swap.  The "winter" mini swap is now underway and I have already been working on that.

Good Night for now...I leave for work in about six hours....

Happy Stitching,
Danette

Cheryll at Gone Stitchin' hosted this mini swap...maybe you'd like to join in the next mini quilt swap.  Sign up now for the Mother' Day Mini.

My daughter Katie made this table topper for me.  It's so beautiful!  It's hard to believe she started quilting just a few months ago.  Visit Katie's blogs Project Katie and Call Me Crazy and see what she's been up to.

On the first Friday of the month I join in the fun at Friday night with Friends hosted by Cheryll at    Gone Stichin'.  She did a drawing last month and look what I won!

Thank you Cheryll.  I love the thread catcher, the fabric is so cute!(so was the Santa stamp)  The tea is wonderful and  I'm saving a cup for our next FnwF  - see you then...
