Friday Night with Friends

My first Friday Night with Friends and I fell asleep before finishing!

I'm working on Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt EASY STREET!  I just started last week on this scrap quilt and managed to completed Step 1: 192 4-patch units.  Tonight I wanted to complete Step 2:  128 Flying Geese units.  I started them earlier in the week and I was going to stay up until I finished.  My downfall was sitting and having a snack on my way to the ironing board.  I'm not sure how many I finished but here's my results...

It's taken over 1 1/2 hours, 3 computers and my daughters help to post these pictures...computer problems!

Visit the other Friday night sewers by clicking here to head over to Cheryll's blog, the host of this get together.  While there, you'll see information on her Valentine Swap.  (I'll try to put buttons on the sidebar if my computer hasn't given up on me)

Have fun sewing!

A New Look and Hexie

I was feeling a little under the weather yesterday and while I was sleeping and resting my daughter gave my blog a new look.  I LOVE IT!  She also made me a new button.  I'm such a lucky mom!

Here's my hexie for the week and last week I finally finished the quilted hanging so I was able to put away the Halloween ghost quilt until next year.  Now my daughter is wondering what I'll make for Spring!

Have a great week!

Hexie, Siggy, Christmas Through the Year and MAIL!!!

I received this soft, squishy package from Portugal...
and was so surprised!  I was getting a Pay it Forward ready for Teresa and I receive mail from her (I forgot I had signed her PIF to begin with).  Look at the beautiful gifts I received!

A gorgeous colorful round mat (it's on my daughter's library chair....and she'd like it to stay there), a pretty pillow that will look great in my bedroom, a zippered bag that is lined and has pockets (I need to learn how to do that) and has  lovely scented soap inside, an apron from Portugal which fits nicely and little ornaments.  Thanks so much Teresa, I'll treasure them all!

I then received another package...
from Melody in Melborne.

I love the little house!  The stitching is beautiful and such detail...even little buttons and a pieced background.  Doesn't it look great hanging on the mantle.  Thank you Melody! This is from the12 inch mini quilt swap hosted by Cheryll.

I also received this pretty siggy from Rita in Italy.

Thank you for this wonderful siggy, I loved the fabric you used.  My siggy for you will be in the mail tomorrow.  Sorry it took so long to finish.

And here's my Christmas through the Year...a Mini quilt

and I've almost finished 2 snowmen and 1 snowflake wall hangings/runners.

Now for my hexie:  1 plus 5 pieces of one hidden in the Christmas things(by angels).  Would you believe my daughter's been trying to get me to finish a Christmas/winter wall hanging?

I guess ghosts don't go well with the angels and Nativity set.
Please stop by and visit Karen who hosts One Flower Wednesday and see all the flowers blooming.

Maybe I should keep up with posting so they wouldn't be sooooo longgggg.

Happy Stitching!

Hexie Flower, 12 Inch Mini Swap, Cristmas Through the Year and Finishes

It's been so long since I posted but I know if I made a hexie I'd post...too bad work gets in the way of quilting.

I also participated in Cheryll's 12 inch Mini Quilt Club. Click on the link to join in the fun - the sign up for December - Christmas Mini is going on now.

The October Mini was Spring and I received the beautiful Mini from Tracee.  Hexies and bird houses...my favorites!  Thanks Tracee, I love it!

My October/Spring Mini went to Lyn.

As you can see my daughter decorated for Halloween.  It looks great!  I finished 2 projects to help with the decorating.  The first was started years ago and was suppose to be a Lap Quilt but I made it for the front door (remember I said that's where I sewed....the ironing board makes it hard to open the door).

I also made the table runner Itsy Bitsy Halloween from the book My Runners by Disa Designs.  It's a little longer than the pie safe it's on.

And now to Christmas.  I finished these ornaments that must have been started 10 years or so ago.  There's still more to complete but it's a nice start. Thanks to Christmas Through The Year, Darlene and Cheryl, I have some Christmas presents made.

Madelyn, my 4th grandniece was born in September and I made her this jelly roll race quilt.  I just love the colors.  Dan quilted swirls on it in a variegated bright green - it looks great, thanks Dan.

And last but not least, I finished my Hay Bale Quilt, pattern by Edyta Sitar.  This quilt is for me and I'm going to snuggle under it this winter when relaxing and reading.  I love the fabrics, a mixture of prints and batiks.  Again, Dan did a beautiful job quilting!  Look at the detail in each of the blocks. Thanks Dan! (I only quilt my small projects).

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

One Flower Wednesday (Thursday) and 12' Mini Quilt Swap

Better late than never???  Not much new on the hexies but I did make some more stepping stones and one leaf.  I'm also working on Halloween place mats - which is the fabric you see under the hexies.  Visit Karen at One Flower Wednesday to see how hexie flowers are blooming in other gardens.

I received a soft envelope in the mail this week....

It's fantastic, my husband loves it!  Mary Pat sent this to me for the 12" Mini Swap hosted by Cheryll at Gone Stitchin'.  The theme was 'Father's Day' which happens to be a few months later in Australia than here in the States.  The next Mini swap sign up is in September and the theme is 'Spring" if you'd like to join in the fun.  Thanks for the beautiful Mini Mary Pat!

I sent 2 quilts in for quilting, I'm just finishing up binding on a quilt for my nephew's daughter (due beginning of September) and I've been working on a leaf pattern......hope to have pictures soon.

Have a GREAT week!

One Flower Wednesday, 12 inch Mini Quilt Swap and Northern Lights

Hello!  It's been so long since I posted but I've kept up with visiting all the beautiful hexies/flowers over at One Flower Wednesday hosted by Karen.  My flower garden is growing very slowly and I had trouble keeping the patterned rows in order but after a little ripping out I think my rows are growing nicely.

I also participated in a 12" Mini Quilt Swap hosted by Cheryll.  My Mini went to Sharon this month and I was reminded I forgot to add a label...sorry Sharon!

This pattern is from  Don't look now!   I just changed things a little to make it a mini.

I received these beautiful pictures in an email and I'd like to share them with you.

Northern Lights Over Teepees

These are spectacular and the teepees are so
pretty in the dark but,
check out that thermometer!
(NORTHERN LIGHTS, YELLOW KNIFE, CANADA )

BELOW IS A FIRE RAINBOW - THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA. THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED
ON THE
IDAHO, WASHINGTON BORDER. THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR. CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20K FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT
THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES
.

Enjoy the pictures.....have a great week!
