One Flower Wednesday

Since making (hexie) stones is a little boring after awhile I decided to start working on Christmas ornaments....

I'll have this ready to hang on a tree  by next week and hopefully a few more.  Thanks to Karen and all the other ladies who keep me motivated.  Take a look and see what's blooming at One Flower Wednesday.

This past week I made a zippered bag and it turned out!  I know all of you can make these, but I was so excited!!!  My daughter picked out the fabric she wanted and she was so pleased with the results - she loves it!

And my seams even matched!

This week my goal is to make an apron with aqua and apricot material....it will be another first.  I know how to do piecing (straight pieces) and now with following your blogs and joining in on swaps I've learned so much.  Thank you for all your encouragement!
Happy Stitching!

One Flower Wednesday and More......

I know I said I'd be making more stones and adding them to my quilt but...I made a flower instead - much more colorful!  Visit Karen at One Flower Wednesday to see beautiful blooms and growing gardens.

I also finish a BOM quilt I start in 2008.  I was given a pattern and fat eights each month.  I started out hand piecing the blocks together and then took a class on machine piecing.   I finished putting the binding on Sunday night and all that's left to do is a label and maybe a sleeve to hang it.

And the quilting....Dan did an amazing job!  Just look at the quilting - pictures don't do it justice.

Just one more thing...

There's a fun swap or 2 starting.  Cheryll at Gone Stitchin' has posted the Alphabet Challenge which has you collect/make items starting with the letter A .  I've already started.  I just need to learn how to make an apron...

Cheryll has also posted a 12 inch Mini Club that I'm excited to join read about it here.

              Happy Quilting!

One Flower Wednesday???

Yes, I know it isn't Wednesday and the picture below isn't of hexie flowers....BUT.. they are hexie stones and leaves for my flower garden.  I'm trying to figure the size of the quilt and that will be determined by how many stones and leaves I have fabric for.  Thank you for all the comments on my blog last week - I still haven't read all the emails.  Where did the time go?

Visit Karen at One Flower Wednesday/Journey of a Quilter to see the beautiful flowers and gardens that are growing this week.

One Flower Wednesday

Two flowers to add to my garden this week...

I need to make stones and leaves for my garden this week and start sewing it all together.  I'm not sure how far my background fabric will go...and that will determine the size of the quilt.

The weekend with my DD was fun.  We went to the RT Book Lover's Convention Teen Day and she came home with this:
She purchased a few (?) books (some were early releases) had them signed.  The rest was all free: bookmarks, buttons, pens, posters and a bag with four hard cover and four paperback books and 'Speed Dating': with 18 authors.  She even met an author in the elevator and was given a book!  If you want to stop by my daughter's blog click here.

I hope to have something finished by next week....didn't I say that last time?

Happy Quilting!

Almost Two Flower Wednesday

Here's my flower for this week:

I almost finished another one but I've been trying to finish up a project with bow tie squares by next Monday for Scrap Club.  This weekend my DD and I are going to a YA (Young Adult) Book Convention.  It will be nice to spend the weekend with her away from home...a change of pace and something new to experience).  Since my sewing machine won't be coming along with us I hope to finish LOTS of hexies!

Stop by and see how the other gardeners are doing at Karen's One Flower Wednesday
Have a Sunny Week!

One Flower Wednesday, FMQ and Blogger Award

This is Flat Stanley showing you my hexies....
My grandniece sent this to my DD and she is to take Stanley around to interesting places, take pictures, pick up souvenirs and write about it all - Have any of you done this before?  Well, I thought Stanley could visit with all of you who stop by, he'd like to meet people from other areas before being sent back to Ohio.

I also took a FMQ class last Saturday and we started by writing our name and straight lines
then crooked straight lines...I could do that

then we filled in a leaf and tried all sorts of other shapes

Now, I just need lots of time to practice.

Last week my new blogging friend Ida over at "My Sister made me do it..." nominated me for the Versatile Blogger Award.  Thanks Ida!  Now I get to post this too cool button on my blog:
From what I understand, the Versatile Blogger Award was created to introduce bloggers to each other and to promote quality blogs that the nominated blogger and their followers may not have discovered otherwise.

If you are nominated, you are awarded the Versatile Blogger Award through that nomination.
To continue the trend of this cool Award you should, in turn, nominate other fellow bloggers and in the same post add the Versatile Blogger Award Button and also thank the blogger who nominated you with a link back to their blog.

Inform each of your own nominees by posting a comment on their blog.
Here is my list of nominees, I hope you will check out each of their blogs:
